5 Money Mindset Shifts You Need To Do That Will Pay Off Huge
Hey babe!!
Do you feel rich, secure, and financially abundant? Or do you sometimes worry about having enough to make ends meet?
Now, I’m not talking about them how much dollars dollars you make or spend, I’m talking about how you feel about your current circumstance; your mindset when it comes to money money moneyyyy.
Don’t get me wrong babe, the numbers in your bank account do matter- but it’s not the whole story. And I get it, if someone told me this after high school, while I was I was making $13/hour, working two day jobs, cheerleading for scholarships, and dealing with significant credit card debt. I would have rolled my eyes at them, because my mind was not fertile ground for this. At that point in life, my main concern was turning a negative balance into a positive one in my bank account, not rewriting my thought process.
Fast forward two decades of experiences, paying off all my student loans within 2 years, purchasing one property annually, I can now see how altering my beliefs about money was the catalyst for my success and highly profitable businesses.
True wealth depends on your money mindset
So, What Exactly is a Money Mindset?
Your "money mindset" is the set of beliefs, often subconscious, that you hold about money. It shapes how you approach earning, saving, spending, and sharing in your life. Your financial habits, whether good or bad are influenced by your mindset, including parts of you feeling inadequate, security, limitation, generosity, and/or victimhood.
All the messages you've internalized about money throughout your life can be distilled into two basic orientations: scarcity or abundance.
Scarcity vs. Abundance Mindset - which one do you resonate with?
To put it simply, a scarcity mindset leaves you feeling overwhelmed, depressed, and paralyzed. An abundance mindset leaves you feeling excited, motivated, and ready for action
A scarcity mindset is characterized by a perpetual struggle to earn a few extra dollars, constant worry about bills, frustration over taxes, and reluctance to part with money. No matter your income, you perpetually feel as though you need more and that you're lacking. Scarcity beliefs may sound like:
-
"I'm not ______ (good/smart/talented/privileged) with money”
-
"Someone else will take care of this for me,”
-
"People with money are greedy.”
-
“That’s my life, I DON’T have enough money."
An abundance mindset, on the other hand, take all of the negative aspects of a scarcity mindset and flip them on their heads, turning them into positive opportunities. It manifests as an appreciation for what you have, regardless of whether it's a little or a lot. You are confident in your capacity to both make and receive money. You live with the belief that there's always enough and even more to come. An abundance mindset sounds like:
-
"I love learning about money,”
-
“I am enough"
-
"I can take charge of my finances,”
-
"Money give people the opportunity to contribute to others and can make a positive impact."
Your money mindset is not set in stone; it can be altered. When you know where your beliefs came from, you have the power to change them.
So let me ask you this babe, where did your current money mindset come from?
Much of your beliefs about money may have roots in childhood experiences. If you grew up in an environment of scarcity, where phrases like "Money doesn't grow on trees!” “We’re poor, we can’t afford that!.” If that sounds like you, which def gave me PTSD when I wrote this lol, you may carry this mentality into adulthood. Conversely, if you were raised in a generous and financially secure environment, hearing “It’s only money, we can make more” or “We have everything we need." your mindset might be more abundant.
However, your current environment also plays a significant role. The people you associate with, your surroundings, the media you consume – all of these influence your mindset. But don’t go scorch earth and blame everyone, your childhood, or make new friends lol, remember babe, at the end of the day, it's ultimately up to you to change your mindset.
So, how can you change your money mindset? By making small changes in your thoughts and behaviors!! You're not doomed to a life of scarcity babe, you can start rewiring your brain for abundance.

2. Practice Gratitude
You’re not wrong for wanting more, but a positive money mindset starts with appreciating what you have, even if it's not a lot. Acknowledge your basic necessities, like a home, food, clean water, and clothing. The more you focus on what you have, the more abundant you'll feel.
"You’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never ever have enough.” -Oprah

Who says you can’t have nice dinners at home? Or an exciting staycation? Or happy holidays and birthdays without fancy gifts? You can turn any inexpensive dinner into a 5-star experience with beautiful plating, a few candles, and the right music. Get ready, put on a nice outfit, invite your babes, and voila! An amazing meal you’ll all remember.
4. Start a Guilt-Free Fun Fund
Set aside money exclusively for enjoyable experiences. This fun fund allows you to indulge in activities you might have considered unaffordable.
Set aside a little bit of money from paychecks or any extra or unexpected income and use it exclusively for the stuff you’d otherwise say you can’t afford, like:

Friends’ birthday parties, baby showers, weddings, etc.
